What are TDU charges?
- TDU stands for Transmission and Distribution Utility
- TDU Charges are fees that are passed directly to regional utilities for the management and maintenance of physical electricity infrastructure like power lines and transformers
- There are six deregulated TDUs in Texas:
- Oncor
- CenterPoint
- AEP Central
- AEP North
- Texas-New Mexico Power
- Lubbock Power & Light
- Residential electricity providers do not set or collect TDU charges. They are passed directly to the utility.
- TDU charges are updated every March 1 and September 1, but can be updated more frequently as well.
